UIH FOUNDATION

About the Foundation

The Universal Integrative Health (UIH) Foundation was established in 2018 by Dr. Avdhoot Shivanand and Dr. Ishan Shivanand. The UIH Foundation is a pioneering force for the promotion of mental well-being and holistic health in Mauritius. With a mission to provide accessible, science-backed wellness solutions for all, UIH Foundation empowers individuals, young students, healthcare professionals, sports athletes and governmental and corporate institutions, to thrive in today’s fast-paced world.

    What We Do

UIH Foundation bridges ancient yogic modalities with modern, scientifically-validated health strategies, fostering self-awareness, emotional resilience, and community wellness. With a strong focus on community outreach and sustainable partnerships, UIH Foundation remains committed to building a healthier, more resilient society in Mauritius and beyond.

      Our Impact

UIH Foundation’s flagship initiative, the Mindfulness-Based Resilience (MBR) Training as part of the Bright-Up Programme, stands as a beacon of youth empowerment in Mauritius. In partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Mauritius Sports Council, UIH Foundation conducted over 150 hours of MBRT sessions across 8 Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD) centres around the island from February to September 2024. The programme was crafted to help young minds to achieve emotional balance, enhance mental clarity and resilience. UIH Foundation’s recent collaborations also include providing MBR protocols for T1 Diams, a leading NGO dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals with Type 1 Diabetes and for the Bambous Martial Arts (BMA) Sports Club, designed to strengthen the resilience of elite sports athletes.

We work alongside our Partners and Collaborators to create and deliver innovative Mindfulness-Based Resilience (MBR) programmes, that catalyse positive change.
